Monitor Child’s Facebook
In addition to children engaging in objectionable activities on Facebook, a recent study shows that with the increase in online social media use comes an increased risk from online predators.
The Crimes Against Children Research Center has recently released some alarming statistics:
•1 in 5 teenagers who regularly use the internet say they have received unwanted sexual solicitation online
•77% of the targets for online predators were age 14 or older, and 22% were users ages 10 to 13
•25% of children have been exposed to unwanted pornographic material online
•Less than 25% of children who encounter a sexual approach or solicitation told a parent
With so much objectionable activity and unwanted sexual predatory behavior taking place, if your child isn’t telling you about it, how are you going to be able to protect them? You can protect them when they are at home, but how can you protect them when they are online, without having to stand next to them, or sit with them every minute while they are online?
One of the ways that parents are monitoring their Facebook activity is with a device called the Cobra SpyStick. Once you set the tracking options, remove the Cobra SpyStick, and the program will be running invisibly in the background, logging every keystroke, and taking screenshots.
All of the logged data is stored in an encrypted, hidden folder, so your child will not be able to find or access it. When you are ready to view your child’s Facebook and computer activity, simply insert the Cobra SpyStick back into the computer, click “Transfer”, and all of the logged keystrokes and screenshots are transferred to the Cobra SpyStick device itself, which you can then take and view on any computer - perfect if your child has their own computer, and you want to review the somewhere else, or whenever it is convenient.
